Sunday Music Report
The choir chickened out of singing Cavalli's Salve Regina (audio clip) during the offertory this morning. It was a little rough during rehearsal before mass, or as one soprano said, "pretty, but not solid". So we did a last minute substitution of Palestrina's Laude Sion Salvatorem (score; midi) which was familiar to most choir members (except me and two other newbies.)During communion, we sang the achingly beautiful In Paradisum by Durufle (Real Audio). Our choir leader and organist has been playing his scary Hallowe'en/All Souls music the past few Sundays for the Postlude. Today he outdid himself with Marcel Dupre's Le Tombeau de Titelouze.
